Bird Girl Pet Services offers grooming by appointment for birds, small mammals, and small reptiles here in central Nassau County.
Grooming can also be added to a boarding reservation at a discounted rate.
All grooming takes place in a separate room from the avian guests boarding with me.
I use fresh towels and scrub tops for every appointment, and I clean all tools with F10 veterinary disinfectant between clients.
Nail, Beak & Wing Trims for Birds
Bird grooming services include nails, wings, and/or beak trim. The price is the same whether you need one service, two, or all three. I only perform beak trims when the beak is overgrown for the species.
Each appointment begins with a visual inspection of your bird in its carrier. I then gently restrain them in a towel and monitor for stress throughout.
Most grooming sessions take 5 to 10 minutes. Some larger or more reactive species may take up to 15 minutes.
Styptic powder is always on hand, and birds that are warm after grooming are misted to help them cool down.
I groom small and medium birds up to the size of an Amazon parrot. I am unable to groom macaws, large cockatoos, or other large species, as I perform all grooming solo.
If your bird is too stressed or aggressive to groom safely, I will recommend that you visit your avian vet instead.

Small Mammal Grooming
I provide nail trims for rabbits and guinea pigs. I gently lift your pet from the carrier onto a towel in my lap, trim their nails, and return them to the carrier.

Nail Trims for Reptiles
I provide nail trims for bearded dragons and other small lizards. Please reach out to confirm availability for your species.

Grooming is available by appointment only on Saturdays.
Please provide at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Changes made with less than 48 hours' notice will incur a scheduling fee.
